80 years since the passing of Takeda Sokaku Sensei

April 25, 2023 is the 80th anniversary of the death of Takeda Sokaku Sensei, the restorer of the dynasty of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu. In the modern era, Takeda Sokaku Sensei was a giant in the budo world who introduced Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu to the public, taught around 30,000 disciples and exerted a great influence not only on Daito-ryu but also on martial arts including Aikido. We have a mission to hand down the Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu tradition and this wonderful budo to future generations, inherited from Takeda Sokaku Sensei to Takeda Tokimune Sensei, Kondo Katsuyuki Sensei and Kondo Masayuki Sensei.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary, I have taken that fact to heart again and vowed seriously to engage in practicing.
