Katsuura Camp 2024

From August 6th (Tuesday) to August 12th (Monday), the Katsuura Camp was held at the Nippon Budokan Training Center in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture, hosted by Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Headquarters. This year, around 120 students from Japan and abroad, more than last year, gathered together and practiced in three parts: early morning, morning, and afternoon, and the training camp was completed safely without any major injuries or accidents. In addition, the 65th Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu Headquarters Demonstration Tournament was held on the final day, August 12th (Monday). (Headquarters website: https://www.daitohryu.com/all/2154)

A promotion examination was also held during this camp, and 5 students from the Setagaya branch passed Shodan. In addition, the Setagaya branch participated in the demonstration for the first time, where each student showed the results of their daily practice.

It is very meaningful to practice beyond the boundaries of the dojo and nationality, practicing together, spending together, and interacting with each other. It broadens the perspective of martial arts practice, makes you aware of the extent of your own abilities, and gives you a challenge and enthusiasm for tomorrow’s practice. And above all, the friendship with like-minded fellow students from around the world gives you a joy that goes beyond martial arts training. It was a very intense week that made me realize this once again.
