Katsuura Camp 2023

From August 11th (Friday) to August 17th (Thursday), the Katsuura Training Camp was held at the Nippon Budokan Training Center in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture, hosted by Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Headquarters. (Headquarters HP: https://www.daitohryu.com/all/1764)

For the first time in four years since 2019, about 80 students from 18 countries around the world, including Japan, gathered together and practiced in three shifts: early morning, morning, and afternoon, and we can complete the camp smoothly without any major injuries or accidents. In addition, on the final day, August 17th (Thursday), a festival was held to mark the 80th anniversary of the death of Takeda Sokaku Sensei and the 30th anniversary of the death of Takeda Tokimune Sensei.

At this camp, a promotion exam was also held, and all five students from the Setagaya Branch who took the exam passed the Sho-dan exam. Four years after the establishment of the Setagaya Branch, the first black belts were born. I hope that the five students who were promoted this time will take pride in being Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu black belts, never be satisfied with this, and strive to reach even higher levels. It was a turning point for the Setagaya Branch, and it was also a new start.
